While students learning English as a foreign language are coached intensively in small classes in the ISC, they are encouraged to play a full and active part in the life of Box Hill School, sharing in assemblies and outings to places of interest with other boarders.

Students will need to be well-motivated and prepared to work hard, but our experience has shown that most pupils find the atmosphere conducive to successful and enjoyable learning!

Although students who join the International Study Centre at Box Hill School will have some knowledge of English, the aim of the ISC is to raise their academic standards to those required by the country’s leading independent schools.

Once students attain the required standards in reading, writing, speaking and understanding, they are integrated into mainstream classes at Box Hill School, where they will continue to receive support in the form of ESL (English as a second language).
