The Mccomish Foundation

“Without the instinct for adventure, any civilisation however enlightened, any state however
well-ordered will wilt and wither” – Kurt Hahn

The McComish Foundation is a special charitable fund that was created by our first Headmaster Roy McComish on his retirement to encourage students to take up opportunities based on the teachings and ideals of the educationalist Kurt Hahn (Founder of Round Square).

It offers an annual financial award of money to members of Years 11, 12, 13 to fund or partially fund individuals or groups of students undertaking a personal challenge of their choice encompassing one or more of the Round Square ideals of adventure and service to others.

Since its founding in 1987 The McComish Foundation has given awards to multiple Box Hill Students to allow them to participate in adventures and when the students return from their adventures they always share their learnings and skills with our community, extending the value of the McComish Foundation awards’ teaching far beyond that of the individual student

The McComish Foundation is dependent on generous donations from our Boxhillian community and we are very grateful to everybody who has supported and continues to support the award.
