Round Square is a world-wide association of more than 60 schools on five continents sharing unique and ambitious goals. Students attending Round Square schools make a commitment to strive not only for academic excellence, but for personal development and individual responsibility. They achieve these goals by participating in community service, exchange programmes and adventuring, which can, and often does, take them half way around the world.

Box Hill School believes that schools should have a greater purpose beyond preparing students for college and university. It is crucial for young people to prepare for life by having them face it directly within a supportive but challenging school environment, in ways that demand courage, generosity, imagination, principle and resolution.

All member schools of the Round Square share the view that students learn most effectively by doing. Through activities, they become engaged in a process of on-going self-confrontation and formation. Learning becomes fun and develops the whole person academically, physically, culturally and spiritually.

Box Hill students may have the opportunity to participate in Round Square expeditions, carrying out community-based activities in locations such as Peru, South Africa and India.  Additionally, the school organises Round Square exchanges where Years 7 and 8 students travel to European destinations such as France and Germany, and Year 9 and above students spend up to 8 weeks in South Africa, Australia, America, Canada, India or Peru, studyng and working at one of our sister schools.

Our students are encouraged to offer service to others, to undertake adventure, leadership training and responsibility and to actively seek international understanding: all essential components in preparing young people to meet the challenges of the future with confidence and compassion.
