Welcome to the Forum
You can use this section of the website to post comments or ask questions of other parents, discuss issues that interest you, or leave feedback about the site.
Unlike many forums of it's type, we don't have a particular 'topic' in mind, so you do not have to confine your conversations to the BHSA or Box Hill School, or even education in general. Whatever you want to discuss is fine by us, apart from a few exceptions which are listed later.
Using the Forum
We don't think it could be easier to use the forum (although if you disagree, please feel free to let us know!). To read a particular topic thread, click on the topic title on the main page. If you would like to post a reply to a thread, click on "Post Reply".
When you are posting a reply, you don't need to add your name to the post. If you're logged in, the site will automatically add your name as the author of the reply (along with a time and date).
You can delete any posts that you make to any topic - simply click on the "Delete this post" link and the post will be removed. You can only delete posts that you submitted yourself, so don't worry about other people deleting your post!
You can start a completely new topic thread by clicking on "Post New Topic" on the main forum page.
Inappropriate Posts
The forum is provided as a service to improve communication between parents of Box Hill School students. Some Box Hill School staff will occasionally monitor the forum, but we ask that the forum is not used as a way of contact teachers or the School in general. It is unlikely that they will read such posts, and the School provides other methods for communicating with them (such as email).
We also ask that you avoid posts on the following topics:
Anything that may be regarded as 'offensive' by other members (political opinions, racist or homophobic comments, etc)
Posts advertising businesses
Posts criticising the School, teachers of the School, pupils, or other parents, particularly where the third party has no reasonable opportunity to reply.
Posts which should reasonably be directed to the School in the first instance (allegations of bullying, complaints about discipline etc).
Please note that both the BHSA and Box Hill School reserve the right to remove any posts or topics which they feel are not appropriate for the forum, and to close topics which they feel might be in danger of becoming inappropriate (where a topic turns into an argument, for instance).
We hope that forum users will exercise common sense, and that this will be a useful resource for all members of the BHSA.
The Technical Stuff
The forum is fairly basic in structure, as unlike many other forums this one does not use a pre-built package. It has been coded from scratch by Box Hill School technical staff. As such, certain features of this forum may change from time to time as improvements are implemented. If you would like to suggest changes to the forum (or any other part of the site) please contact the webmaster using the link on the homepage.
The Legal Stuff
This service is provided as a courtesy by the BHSA and Box Hill School, and posts to this forum do not necessarily reflect the views of the BHSA or Box Hill School. The BHSA and Box Hill School reserve the right to remove inappropriate posts, close topics, or remove the forum completely at any time.
Posts to the forum are not actively moderated, but BHSA Committee members and Box Hill School staff will monitor posts on the forum from time to time.
