There is not an area of modern life that has not been affected by the advancement of computer technology and no one is properly equipped for the world today without an understanding of the wide range of computer applications and uses they might encounter. At Box Hill the computer facilities are regularly upgraded to meet the ever changing needs for technology in education.
ICT is taught to all pupils at Key Stages Three and Four. The emphasis in Years 7 – 9 is on practical skills which we encourage pupils to use in other subject areas. We combine training in Office Applications – word processing, spreadsheets, databases etc. - with a range of other more creative activities like film making and game programming.
In Years 10 and 11 we offer the Cambridge International Exam Board IGCSE in ICT. This course consolidates and extends the practical work of Key Stage 3 and combines it with a good understanding of IT systems and related issues, focussed primarily on the use of ICT in modern society.
